Smile Makeover Before and After
Susie was a patient of record and had been coming to The Smile Shop for many years. During her most recent visit, she was looking for a smile makeover. She had large fillings on her front teeth, and they were beginning to deteriorate.
Susie also had signs of additional tooth decay, so we decided to use dental crowns to improve her smile’s appearance and preserve her natural teeth. Because she wasn’t happy with her smile and her oral health was at risk, it was the best all-around option.

Transform Your Smile with Dental Crowns
Susie’s smile goals included improving her appearance, but she also wanted something more durable than dental fillings to withstand the force of biting and chewing. So, we created a treatment plan involving the placement of eight dental crowns.
A dental crown is a restoration that covers the entire tooth, strengthening and protecting it. There are several types of dental crowns:
- Porcelain (ceramic)—This type of crown works best on front teeth since porcelain blends seamlessly with natural teeth.
- Porcelain fused to metal—Metal crowns with a porcelain overlay work well for back molars that endure more bite force.
- Gold—This type of crown is the most durable and most expensive.
For Susie’s smile makeover, we began by preparing her teeth and removing the decay. Then, we took impressions so her custom dental crowns could be created. Until they were ready, we placed temporary crowns on her teeth. Once her permanent crowns arrived, we cemented them to her teeth, completely transforming her smile.
